Hot dip Galvanized Pipe is to make molten metal react with iron substrate to produce alloy layer, so that the substrate and coating can be combined. Hot galvanizing refers to pickling the Steel Pipe first. In order to remove iron oxide on the steel pipe surface, after pickling, the steel pipe is cleaned in ammonium chloride or zinc chloride aqueous solution or mixed ammonium chloride and zinc chloride aqueous solution tank, and then sent to the hot dip tank. Hot dip galvanizing has the advantages of even coating, strong adhesion and long service life. Most of the processes in the north adopt the zinc strip direct coil zinc supplement process.

Cold galvanizing refers to electro galvanizing. The amount of galvanizing is very small, only 10-50g/m2, and its corrosion resistance is much different from that of hot-dip galvanized pipe. In order to ensure the quality, most of the regular galvanized pipe manufacturers do not use galvanization (cold plating). Only those small enterprises with small scale and outdated equipment adopt galvanization, of course, their prices are relatively cheap. In the future, it is not allowed to use cold galvanized pipes as water and gas pipes.
Complex physical and chemical reactions occur between the steel pipe substrate and the molten plating solution to form a corrosion resistant zinc iron alloy layer with compact structure. The alloy layer is integrated with the pure zinc layer and the steel pipe matrix. Therefore, it has strong corrosion resistance.

The zinc layer is an electroplating layer, which is separated from the steel pipe substrate. The zinc layer is thin, which is simply attached to the steel pipe substrate and easy to fall off. Therefore, its corrosion resistance is poor. It is prohibited to use cold galvanized steel pipes as water supply pipes in new residential buildings.
